Airport Excellence Award for Operations at the 2024 National Airport Industry Awards

We are proud to have received the Airport Excellence Award for Operations at the 2024 National Airport Industry Awards, hosted by the Australian Airports Association (AAA) on 20 November in Brisbane.

In November 2023, in collaboration with ADB Safegate, we embarked on an ambitious two-year project to replace our aging Advanced Visual Docking Guidance System (AVDGS) with the cutting-edge Safedock FleX. This transformative initiative is designed to enhance safety and operational efficiency through advanced 3D laser scanning and real-time gate management technology.

Phase One of the project, completed earlier this year, upgraded bays 6, 7, 8, 11, and 13. It was a testament to the expertise and collaboration of our aviation managers, airside operations and safety team leaders, technical services personnel, and IT experts. Together, they have modernised critical infrastructure to set new benchmarks for airport operations.

The Safedock FleX project stands out for its scale and lasting impact. Once completed, it will replace the outdated AVDGS across multiple bays, equipping our airport with the most advanced technology for safe and efficient aircraft docking.
