Rex joins Canberra Airport
Rex Airlines is the latest airline to join the Canberra Airport family, with a direct route to Sydney, commencing from 19 April 2021. Rex will initially commence with seven return flights a day and could exceed 10 return flights a day if the patronage is sufficient.
Rex is determined to bring cost-effective airfares to a popular route that up until now has only been operated by Qantas. Fares will start from $99 one-way. Sales will officially commence later this week.
Rex’s affordable fares will greatly stimulate more business and leisure traffic between Sydney and the national capital as the industry continues to recover. This new Canberra – Sydney route will offer more choice for travellers, stimulate jobs and grow the air travel market.
Rex will also have a lounge at Canberra Airport, complementing their existing Sydney lounge.
Rex is Australia’s largest independent regional and domestic airline operating a fleet of 60 Saab 340 and four Boeing 737-800NG aircraft to 62 destinations throughout all states in Australia. In addition to the airline Rex, the Rex Group comprises wholly-owned subsidiaries Pel-Air Aviation (air freight, aeromedical and charter operator) and the two pilot academies, Australian Airline Pilot Academy in Wagga Wagga and Ballarat.
We’re excited to welcome a new airline to the growing Canberra Airport family and look forward to what this new partnership will bring to the Canberra community.
